Reut Shemesh

GOLA 4th Movement

“GOLA 4th Movement” is the fourth part of a series in which the choreographer Reut Shemesh, who grew up in Israel, explores the form and dogma of national ceremonies. As a teenager, she experienced these ceremonies herself, but today, after emigrating to Germany, she views them in a different light. The production draws a parallel between ceremonial acts, the need for belonging and the potential for its fulfilment – and always vacillates between nostalgia and critical distance.
