Festival tanz nrw 23:

SPRUNGBRETT <> TANZRECHERCHE NRW: Residencies for young dance professionals in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW)

This year's scholarship holders for SPRUNGBRETT <> TANZRECHERCHE NRW have been chosen: iSaAc Espinoza Hidrobo, Roman Jungblut and Mia Hofner as well as Yasmin Fahbod, Mina Khani and Zahra Mousawy from the Hiraeth Kollektiv will each receive a production-independent research and working residency, which Festival tanz nrw 23 and the NRW KULTURsekretariat are offering for the fifth time now.

The two groups were selected from a total of 41 applications. The jury was particularly convinced by the artistic quality of the selected applications, in which the tendency towards the collaborative and a reflected examination of personal experiences became clear: iSaAc Espinoza Hidrobo, performer, choreographer and violinist from Ecuador and based in Cologne, is given the opportunity with the residency to continue the search for pre-colonial forms of knowledge and resistant practices of queer, non-binary and trans* people from North, Central and South America together with Roman Jungblut and Mia Hofner. And the performers and activists Yasmin Fahbod, Mina Khani and Zahra Mousawy, who come from Iran and Afghanistan, are trying to create a space for performative art in exile. They are united by the experience of not conforming to the "norm" in their home countries.

The scholarship holders are offered a two-week residency in Düsseldorf (tanzhaus nrw) and Essen (PACT Zollverein) with organisational and dramaturgical support, a scholarship of up to 6,000 euros and the opportunity to present their research at several festival venues in May 2023.
